These 16 short tracks create bizarre sonic landscapes, suggesting an off-kilter world of people who talk, but do not seem to listen to each other, of confessions and exhortations that don’t seem to find their intended listeners. “1000 Licks” will not only be one of the strangest discs in your collection, but it will be one you return to again and again.
